Interior Design Process
The interior design process is a question we get asked often not just by potential clients but just in general. What’s the first step? What should I expect? We’re here at Nazeli Design to give you a breakdown of our process. Every firm runs things differently so this is just what works for us.
First things first, you book a consultation with us. During this one hour meeting we do a walk through of the space to get an idea of the scope of work and also get a read of the client. See exactly what it is they are looking for and the overall vibe and aesthetic. We then curate a contract to entail what each party can expect. Once we have a signed agreement it is then time to survey the space where we get exact measurement and prepare for the design presentation.
Design is also typically separated into phases. As I mentioned earlier, when we are doing a walkthrough we also call that the discovery phase or Phase 1. We essentially learn about your wants and needs and what budget you have in mind. Phase 2 consists of strategic design, this where as a firm we brainstorm and come up with the solutions. You would typically see the first round of design, sketches, and elevations. Once we have a better idea of the preliminary design we move into Phase 3, Drafting, where we finalize the design. Renderings are now coming in and we have moved onto scheduling FF&E.
Now we have reached Phase 4, which consists of purchasing and expediting. In this phase, we are bringing your design to life! It is one of the most exciting parts of a project. This is a busy phase as well because we are working closely to your contractor to coordinate a seamless execution along with making sure your material is arriving on time. In Phase 5, we call it Administrator, as we are thoroughly managing your project and making sure it is all going according to plan. Lastly, we have finally reached Phase 6, install, where your deliveries are practically done, on site supervisions and walk throughs are happening to make sure nothing is missing, and just overall making sure you as the client are happy and satisfied with the outcome.
Depending on the scope of work, phases could change sometimes. We do hope this was helpful to anyone considering hiring a designer or any future clients. Nazeli Design is always here to oversee your project from A-Z until completion.
