3 Things I Would Not Do As An Interior Designer

When it comes to being an interior designer we all have certain rules we just simply would not do. Every designer has their fair share of recommendations therefore there is no right answer. I just personally find these top 3 things to not work. You may have seen my recent Instagram Post but I wanted to elaborate more on that.

The first thing I would never do as an interior designer is follow trends. We have all seen different materials and aesthetics trending whether it be from a celebrity or a viral Tik Tok video. Majority of the time these trends aren’t sustainable. I prefer to go a more transitional route when possible. It’s not to say I wont include them but I would never go trendy on a bigger peace.

The second thing I wouldn’t do is source all materials or furnishings from just one place. It just seems like you are creating a showroom for that one brand. We want more flow and more unity. I prefer to mix and match and with that you are able to bring in different textures and patterns that all compliment one another.

The third item on my list is that I would never match all finishes and colors. It would just come across as such a flat space. I would rather recommend pulling off a more monochromatic look. In theory you may think this will work but this is exactly where you pull on different shade ranges that could even include include different textures.

All in all, it is just key that you curate a space that stays true to yourself, style, and brand. When you hire Nazeli Design to help create your dream space we make sure to understand your vision and apply everything you’re looking for with out professional design touch.
