Feng Shui in Interior Design

Feng shui can play a huge role in interior design. There have been multiple times at Nazeli Design where we have had our first initial meetings with our clients and they have brought up making sure the feng shui of the home is done correctly. This has become a very important process to understand as an interior designer.

You might be wondering what even is feng shui and what does it have to do with interior design? It is essentially creating the right “flow” in a living space and derived from the Chinese culture. The main purpose of this is to create a balance within the desired area. It comes with different rules and different types of formatting to achieve it correctly.

The most common areas you want to incorporate this is into your kitchen, living room, bedroom, work space, and possibly your entry way. Above you will see an inserted chart with a simple way of explaining the factors that come to play when it comes to layout.

Some examples of what to include to achieving it correctly could be as simple as avoiding clutter in your home. Another is to not place your bed by a window and to avoid areas in certain areas. Overall, the best way to start incorporating all of this is to declutter and get organized.
