The Different Fabrics
There are so many different fabrics when it comes to design. This not only applies to interior design and furniture but also fashion design as well! You can essentially reupholster almost all your furniture and repurpose them rather than throwing it out. You just need to be careful with which fabric you end up choosing. It’s important to establish what is you are looking to reupholster and how much you actually plan on using it.
There are tons of fabrics to pick from. People tend to learn towards cotton typically but it actually is not ideal as an everyday use since it is not susceptible to stains. Although cotton seems ideal and affordable it is not worth it in the long run. Leather on the other hand is actually very durable and a really good option for not only residential but hospitality and commercial as well. This would work great for high traffic areas.
Polyester is usually mixed with different fabrics to create more of a hold. Linen always looks beautiful but is not sustainable at all along with silk. These could be costly but looks wonderful in any space. We recommend only doing it when it’s for something that won’t be worn out much at all. Velvet is always a good option to create a beautiful sensual space too. If you pick a performance velvet which so many good brand carry you will be just okay.
Although upholstering is a great choice it is not the only use for fabrics. Another great way to put a beautiful texture or pattern to use is by custom creating drapery around a space as well. At Nazeli Design, we strive to create custom pieces that will last you a lifetime. If you ever find yourself feeling like you don’t know where to begin we will take care of you.
