Styling an accent wall can be tricky and tedious. Sometimes you have a lot of room to play with and sometimes you just need some home decor to use as a filler area. Nazeli Design is always here to help and give you a few designer approved tips and tricks to help guide you.

Looking out for scale and proportions for a project of this sort is going to be the number one thing to keep in mind. You don’t want to have a big empty wall with a small thin credenza and you also don't want to have a smaller empty space filled with bulky pieces. Finding the happy medium for what is best suited for your space is the way to go.

Our recommendation regardless of the size of the wall first would be to incorporate wall art or better yet wallpaper. We are a huge fan of wallcoverings at Nazeli Design because it helps amplify any space. You don’t even need to spend a lot and there are so many variations such as peel and stick options that make it even renter friendly. We also recommend specialty paint such as roman clay options. Once you’ve narrowed down the direction of the wall the simple yet classic way to go is placing a console table or a credenza depending on how much space you're working with. If you want to optimize storage this is also a good way to purchase one with drawers. You can also get one with space in the bottom to place baskets where you can fill it with more items.

Even if you decide to use wallpaper it doesn’t mean you can't place items on the wall. For example, our inspo board has a fun brass mirror up. Since we went with something bigger we decided to place thinner candle holders to compliment the mirror. We also have a darker shade round vase whereas we placed square baskets below. Playing with the scale and shapes of items is going to help the space look like a designer was there.

Styling an accent wall is fun and easy to make personable to your home! We’ve linked our “accent wall inspo” board with all the links! Our LTK even has some home decor inspo where you can switch out some of your pieces to make it more festive or keep it classic with different ideas. If you’re ever feeling stuck, we got you covered!
