The Different Design Styles

When it comes to interior design there are many different design directions to go with and almost everyone has a certain one that they prefer. Although there are many today I want to introduce to you 3 different styles in particular.

  • Modern

  • Contemporary

  • Transitional

The first style I want to cover is modern. It has recently become extremely popular in all areas around the world even though it has been around for centuries. The best way to describe it is a sleek space. There typically isn’t much décor and the windows are known to be on the bigger and taller end. Modern architecture is usually among no other. The spaces tend to be open and less compressed. It has a clean aesthetic with monochromatic tones that all bounce off one another. People normally see glass or concrete homes and refer to it as modern. Although that may be it there are so many highlights to its minimalistic vibe.

Contemporary design is actually very similar to modern however they have their differences. Contemporary is essentially trends that are more on the newer side or present day. It is a mixture of old and new almost and shows how far we have truly come in design. You are still using neutral tones but also mixing together other materials. Everything has a place for it and you are not overdoing it often avoiding cluttered areas. Although the color palette remains neutral there are still bright colors explored throughout a space as a pop out. When it comes to furniture geometric shapes are the way to go.

Transitional design is now a mixture of modern and traditional and all about finding a balance between the two. It is more functional and comfortable. It can be mixture of fabrics, patterns, and materials. Transitional contains straight lines and elegant pieces where you can down play or dramatize an area. There really aren’t any major rules and it is actually easier to achieve than you may think hence its name “transitional” since you can jump around the different styles.

Stay tuned for more “Different Design Styles” coming soon from Nazeli Design where we will go into detail with all the other styles.
