When buying such a beachfront estate you have to be okay with being out and in the open as many people are going to pass by your property. A lot of oceanfront homes are also jam-packed next to each other so rather than building sideways they tend to go up to optimize a space. It’s not for everyone but it is for most. Tackling a project of this level requires a good team on hand and this stunning home was designed by Matthew Woodward and architecture firm Laney LA. The homeowner, according to Architectural Digest is from the East coast and wanted a “fresh aesthetic, not too modern and something that was more contemporary.”

It consists of 4,000 square feet and is three stories. There is an outdoor conversation pit that is going to create so many core memories. Once you move up a level you’ll find the kitchen and den area and above that are the bedrooms and outdoor spa. The owner of the home wanted a space that was cozy and family friendly and they did just that. It was also crucial to accommodate their diverse and large scale of artwork. They chose the materials and finishes of the home in collaboration with the artwork to create a cohesive look.

The majority of the house has fun bold colors through the artwork for a pop of excitement where it matters but for the most part contains a neutral palette with European oak floors and ceilings, hemlock millwork, and limestone walls. The untreated oak coffee table really stood out to us in particular and ties it all together with the remainder of the finishes. Such a neutral space but feels like a vacation when you look into the family room with the mixtures of texture. Don’t even get us started on the custom Doug Johnston kitchen pendants!

They definitely achieved greatness with this design concept. You can really tell that even their furniture is like artwork. It is so important to not take away from the beautiful ocean views and Nazeli Design can recognize when they exceed an expectation. This home is glamorous and comfortable and is such a hot take on redoing what waterfront estates should be.
