Salone del Mobile

If you are anything like us at Nazeli Design and couldn't make it to this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan Italy then you also had fomo. This extensive design exhibition is similar to the Met Gala in the fashion world but for interior designers. You will see and gain knowledge of so many innovative new design trends and techniques. It is grounds for new opportunities and connections.

This event consists of a few days where a handful of industry colleagues get together. The guest list contains buyers, sellers, designers, curators, innovators, and anyone else you can think of. It is open to anyone and every year the buzz around Salone del Mobile grows more and more. We wanted to highlight a few things that stood out to us in particular. Some interesting reveals occurred during the event such as Hermes launching their new interior collection and Gucci’s creative director Sabato De Sarno partnering with different Italian design companies to recreate some of their original pieces.

We also noticed many new trends on the rise. Although there are so many to pick from, a few really stood out to us like the below statement light fixture that is made of jacquard silk lanterns. Another interesting concept was from Gaggenau, a luxury appliance brand with a floating island with a concealed stove top. Imagine having this in your home, what a crowd pleaser and illusion all in one. There was also the circular Ping-Pong table that caught us by surprise. Don’t even get us started on the handle wall by Kallista. Customized to perfection, truly to each their own. The Cristallo Vitrum from Antolini however took our breath away with their backlit kitchen which they said was inspired by “the essence of ice.”

It’s always intriguing when you admire a fashion design brand that intrudes into home lines. Different brands showcase some of their best work and breakthrough to the right audience. It really gets people buzzing about their furniture or decor. Loewe created lamps with different artists with materials of their preference. It’s hard to believe some of these are real functioning pieces because of their uniqueness. Dolce and Gabbana actually uses this as an opportunity to promote new designers as well.
